UK Learning Community Network

Don’t live near Totnes? There are many thriving Learning Communities around the UK.

The Garden - Bristol

The Garden is a magical hidden acre of woodland, meadow and ponds in the heart of St Werburghs. It is a place for being, learning and playing; where dreams and reality sit a little closer together.

It’s also where Lloyd and Amity learned how to make BHLC a reality. Hat tip and much gratitude to The Garden’s inspirational founder, Artemis D. Bear.

The Green House - Bristol & Bath

The Green House was set up in September 2014 as a home education group. Since 2018 it has been growing into a thriving Self-Directed Learning Community that supports young people to:

  • know and be themselves,

  • to connect with others and the world,

  • to discover, explore and express their passions.

Free We Grow - Forest Hill, London

The educational space At Dacres Wood Nature Reserve in Forest Hill arose from the desire of the creators of Free We Grow to offer children the possibility to freely explore their own ways of learning to learn and to grow in a democratic environment connected to nature and the world around us.

Kith Learning Community - North Rigton

For families who’re keen to become part of a group of people who put their children, their wellbeing and education at the forefront of their lives. Full day options for young people to learn more about themselves, the natural world and each other.

Children of The Forest - Collumpton

Free to learn was originally a project created during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. We wanted to create a project which encouraged children to develop the skills to teach themselves, to be a part of a community and to practice skills like cooking, creating and collaborating which they will need for the rest of their lives.
